Lindsey Buckingham Gets His First Post-Surgery On-Stage Performance
News has it that the American singer and guitarist, Lindsey Buckingham, a one time member of the popular music group known as the Fleetwood Mac, hasn’t mounted the stage since February 2019 — but of recent, he has!
Buckingham went under the knife for an open heart surgery in February 2019 and only came back to his musical ‘work’ 3 months later as he took advantage of his daughter’s graduation to perform on stage with the students. And while on stage, Buckingham performed his band’s classic hit, ‘Landslide’.
Lindsey’s wife, Kristen Buckingham, who was present at their daughter’s high school graduation ceremony took to Twitter to reveal that she hadn’t heard her husband play in a long while, ever since he had the surgery.
“Last night was epic. First time I’ve seen Lindsey play in the last 4 mos, all the while Leelee ending her high school career. AND she sings a little ‘Landslide’ with her dad. I cried I’ll admit it. Never know what’s ahead so enjoying the moment…”
Recent happenings around the 69-year-old guitarist’s life haven’t been quite fortunate. While the most recent was a heart surgery which eventually left him with a damaged vocal cord, his woes dated back to 2018.
Last year being 2018, Buckingham got replaced in the Fleetwood Mac band with Mike Campbell and Neil Finn after disagreeing with the group’s tour time. Things went south so fast that the group’s manager Irving Azoff had to open up to Lindsey that fellow band mate, Stevie Nicks said she wasn’t looking forward to performing alongside him anymore.
Buckingham revealed to Rolling Stone that the band members had a history of disagreeing with one another at different points in time but he couldn’t see any reason why he had to be sacked. He went ahead to reveal that it was Nicks who gave the group the ultimatum of choosing either him or her, and unfortunately, they let him go.
Lindsey later sued the group, but the case was eventually settled outside the court. Presently, his former band’s touring activities are scheduled to start in June and run through till November.
