Six Habits Productive People Do Everyday – You Can Start Too
Whether it’s on social media or television, we’ve all come across someone that is the positive portrayal of productivity. Even though they are so busy accomplishing everything they set their minds to, they still have time to socialize, climb a mountain, and look flawless while doing it. We feel envious of everything they are accomplishing while we ponder on what to have for dinner.
The days of envying their productivity are over. Anyone can adopt habits that will turn their procrastinating and inefficient lifestyle into a productive one.
Here are six habits productive people incorporate into their daily routine, you can too.
Getting Enough Sleep
Yes, we know, sleeping isn’t a very productive activity. Or is it? Getting enough sleep has a very positive effect on your productivity during the day. While it is tempting to stay up late watching TV, you need to prioritize your sleep. The most significant cause of procrastination among adults is sleep deprivation, which can have negative effects on your daily life like impaired judgment and a decrease in memory and focus.
Making sure your room is a comfortable temperature and that you have a comfy bed to sleep on will also help your functioning during each day. Get at least 6-8 hours of undisturbed sleep every night – and don’t forget to unplug before bedtime.
Challenging Tasks First
It’s one thing to create a To-Do list and an entirely different thing to prioritize the items on your to-do list properly. Productive people divide that list into sections from difficult to easy and start with the tougher ones. Tackle all of the most tedious tasks first and continue to the easier ones.
Approaching your most challenging work while your brain is still fresh and awake will help you be more focused and in turn, productive. Once you’ve finished all of the daunting tasks, you can go for lunch feeling relaxed and motivated for the rest.
Self Care
All productive and motivated people share a common practice: self-care. It’s essential that you feel good not only physically but mentally as well.
When you aren’t rested enough or aren’t eating healthily or if you’re emotional well-being isn’t up to scratch, there’s no way you can be productive. Eating superfoods, exercising, and meditating helps release tension and motivates you to be more productive.
Plan Ahead
To stay productive, you need to have a plan. Create a day-by-day schedule or even a monthly one. Avoid procrastinating and try to stick to your plan. Planning ahead while juggling a busy schedule will help to increase your productivity majorly.
If you deal with tasks as they pop up on the daily, you will find yourself multitasking and not finishing projects on the times that they are due. You must finish one task before starting the next. There are many scheduling apps and programs available that allow you to input upcoming projects and deadlines to help you manage your time better and more efficient. Add social and work events onto the calendar.
Give Yourself a Break
It has been proven that no one can be at their optimal productive state 24/7. You need to give your mind and body a break – we all need it.
Avoiding burn out and overwork is extremely important. Instead of working 8 hours at 60%, work a few hours at 100% capacity and take a break to recharge. That way you can give the next few hours your 100%. Get some coffee, breath in some fresh air, or stretch your legs. It will all help you maximize your productivity and refresh your mind.
Delegate
You don’t have to do everything yourself. Some of the most successful and productive people stick to the things they know they can do great. If you are trying to figure out how to write a web program when your talents lie in accounting, you are wasting your time. Instead of trying to do everything by yourself, give someone else some of your important tasks. There’s no shame in asking for help, and you will most definitely get more done by doing so.
You can be productive on your own pace, and you don’t have to have millions of things on your to-do list. As long as you do something productive each day, it’s an excellent start for you to tackle more projects as time goes on.
What’s important is that you have a positive attitude and a go-at-it attitude!
