Isaac Hayes – Gold Plated Cadillac Eldorado – $26,000
Isaac Hayes is an American singer known for being one of the creative forces behind the Southern soul music label Stax records. Alongside success and wealth, Hayes received a gold plated Cadillac which was built especially for him as part of a contract negotiation in 1972. Hayes custom made Cadillac boasted luxurious features throughout with a fur-lined interior, TV, refrigerated bar and a 24-karat gold detailing on the exterior – including gold windshield wipers. Hayes took pride in the car and was often seen driving it around Memphis before he hit financial issues. Hayes ultimately ended up bankrupt due to problems of overextension and limited record sales and distribution. The bank collected all of Haye’s income for his debts, including the Cadillac.
