Sherri Shepherd’s no-sugar diet is responsible for her diabetes improvement
Just a year after judiciously adhering to the no-sugar keto diet recommended for her, Sherri Shepherd has experienced extraordinary changes in her health.
Good health is something worth celebrating and Sherri knows this too, and that is why she couldn’t hold in all the excitement about her sugar-free dieting journey to herself.
The 52-year old actress explained that she began a sugar-free keto diet in 2018, March precisely, and her doctor was amazed at her diabetes improvements, describing her present condition as “not even prediabetic.”
Sherri captioned an Instagram video she posted with the words, “I feel so good I could scream. Just want to encourage you that this can be done. You have people who love you and need you to be here. Live for you! Live for them!”
According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease, A1C tests of 5.7% to 6.4% are known as prediabetic and results of 6.5% or higher are considered diabetic. Any test result below 5.7% is considered normal A1C and Sherri’s A1C test results showed an unbelievable 5.4%!
Shepherd was first diagnosed with diabetes type 2 in 2007. After her diagnosis, she was immediately placed on Metformin treatment but then, she later changed to the sugar-free diet after her A1C test result were said to have drastically increased.
It was something emotional for Sherri when she was diagnosed with the terrible condition and for once, she thought she was going to pass away just like her aunt and her mom did to diabetes. She talked about her son also showing concerns of who would be there for him when his mommy passed away, and that was the moment the former co-host of View realized she needed to live differently for those who wanted her alive – like her son.
Sherri also shared several pictures of herself after shedding about 30lbs of fat and she gives credit to the keto diet for her drastic weight loss.
