Fighting seemed like an overstatement because the men were big enough to handle Jeff with ease. Mike couldn’t let his friend receive a beating alone, so he ran up the stairs and began yelling, “Derek! Hey Derek! Where are you, man?! I hear you’ve been looking for me.”
Mike knew that if the men realized someone else was out there, they would stop focusing all of their attention on Jeff. And true enough, one of the men came rushing out. Mike was about to yell again when someone roughly grabbed him from behind. It seemed Derek had answered his call at last.
