50 Cent, 1994

Famous rapper, Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent shot to fame in the early 2000s with rap songs like Candy Shop, Magic Stick and In da Club. The rapper has been seen as one of the rap-groundbreakers, and he has loads of awards to show for it. Awards include Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Solo Performance.

Before he struck gold as a rapper, 50 Cent was part of gang-type activities. In 1994, he was arrested by the New York police for felony charges that include selling illegal substances to the public.  50 Cent eventually served six months in the New York State Department of Correctional Services. It is known that 50 Cent never abused any illegal substances himself, but after serving his sentence, he was known as 50 Cent, which was a metaphor for change.
