Billy Joe Shaver – April 2nd, 2007
Billy Joe Shaver has been a mainstay in country music for what is now close to six decades. He is a country music singer and songwriter based in Texas. Joe rose to fame with his album Old Five and Dimers Like Me, which is now regarded as a classic in the outlaw country genre of music. He has also had a foray into acting, making an appearance in the film The Apostle.
In 2007, Shaver made news with an incident that took place in Waco, Texas. He apparently shot a man non-lethally in the face with a .22 pistol. The case also included fellow musician Willie Nelson as a character witness. The charges were eventually dropped when it was ruled that shaver was acting in self-defense. Hopefully, the case did not overeat into his bank account.
