James Brown, 2004
The iconic Godfather of Soul, James Brown, is no stranger to run-ins with the law. In 1988 James was arrested for carrying a deadly weapon in a public arena, fleeing police and driving under the influence of an illegal substance. He served six years in the South Carolina’s State Park Correctional Center for his offense.
Despite being behind bars for six years, Brown didn’t learn his lesson and struggles with anger management and alcohol abuse soon surfaced, again. In 2004 James was arrested once again and charged with domestic violence after a brawl with his then-wife, Tommie Rae Brown. At this time Brown was 70-years old. Reportedly, Brown has been arrested numerous times for domestic violence. For the 2004 incident, he paid a measly $1,000 fine and was released soon after.
