Motorists all over the world know similar experiences: the annoyance of not being able to continue driving in a traffic jam. Driving can be exhausting, and spending hours staring at the rear bumper of the vehicle in front of you is one of the worst ways to do it. In Dubai, they solved the world’s traffic problems. In Dubai, the rich and famous can get their cars anywhere in the city using one of the many hovering helicopters that double as taxis. Burj Khalifa guests often spot these heli-taxis circling in the city skies.
In 2017, a German startup committed to launching the world’s first flying taxi service. Volocopter provided the AATs (autonomous air taxis) which include 18 rotors. A taxi ride for a group of six people costs around 144 euros per person.
