These Female Soldiers are Breaking Stereotypes and Winning In and Out of Uniform

Kerrin O’Neill

Kerrin O’Neill has been a combat controller in the U.S. Air Force for two years, making history as one of only three women to complete the entire course during her first week of basic training. She graduated from Air Force basic training in just ten weeks and joined Combat Control School to learn how to control air traffic over war zones.

As the only woman in this role in the Air Force, O’Neill is likely to be deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq. Despite facing some resistance from her peers, O’Neill remains steadfast in her belief that women are strong and capable of fulfilling their potential in the military and beyond.
