Trying to Trace the Scream
The boys were in agreement. They would try to investigate the source of the sound, and if it were nothing serious, they’d resume their exploration. They heard the sound again as they tried to figure out how to begin their search. Though it was a little muffled, they could both tell that it sounded like a scream, and it was coming from the lower decks.
Moving hurriedly away from the empty cabins, they came upon a narrow staircase leading down. But the light that had been streaming through the windows allowing them to look around couldn’t penetrate the deep darkness surrounding that area.
