Man Stays Awake for 264 Hours for World Record, But It Backfired Horribly

The Ultimate Champion?

In 1986, a daring Californian named Robert McDonald shattered Maureen Weston’s record, stunning the world with a jaw-dropping 453 hours and 40 minutes (18 days 21 hours 40 minutes) awake. The then 27-year-old stuntman confessed to UPI, “It hasn’t been easy. I’m ready to collapse, struggling to keep any food down.” The toll weighed heavily; he lost weight and grappled with memory lapses.
