There are many fascinating things worldwide, but none are as dazzling as the northern lights. Also known as the aurora borealis, the beautiful dancing waves of light are formed when particles from the sun slam into the earth’s upper atmosphere at speeds of up to 45 million mph.
The person who took this photo managed to capture the reflection of the light in a puddle, and it looked like a crack that exposed a mysterious world below. For all its beauty, it is hard to tell how dangerous the light is, as the earth’s magnetic field only protects us from it.
