Forest fires are common, especially during the dry season. They can be sparked by high temperatures or ignorance by people throwing sparks, such as cigarettes. North Carolina is not new to such fires, and it’s no surprise as 57 percent of the state’s land is covered by forest.
However, what’s a surprise is that this tree is seemingly breathing fire. A forest service worker captured this photo during the Western North Carolina fires, and it sparked numerous reactions as the flames ran up the trunk, seemingly coming out in purple color. We guess some things in nature are not meant to be understood.
