George Takei, famous as Mr. Sulu in “Star Trek,” has been publicly a supporter of the LGBT organization even after he came out as gay. It was in a Los Angeles running club where he met his now-husband, Brad Altman. George and Brad are both avid fans of running in the 1980s. Their romance began when George asks a huge favor from Brad to help him train for his first marathon. Brad is one of the best runners in their club, so naturally, George needed his help.
This simple request from George blossomed into a long-term relationship between the two. At first, they kept their relationship secret. After 18 years of being together, in 2005, George made a public announcement of his relationship.
