These Female Soldiers are Breaking Stereotypes and Winning In and Out of Uniform
British Soldiers
Before World War I, women were not allowed to serve in the British Army, but when the war began, they joined and proved their bravery and resilience while breaking down gender barriers. As of April 2022, female soldiers made up 11 percent of Britain’s armed forces. Even more impressive, the British government lifted the ban on women serving in ground-close combat situations in 2016.
These changes demonstrate the recognition of women’s value in the military and represent a significant move towards gender equality in the military. They are definitely progressive and signify a positive step in the right direction towards inclusive and diverse armed forces.
