Indonesia has the largest army in Southeast Asia, with 240,000 soldiers, of which one-tenth are women, according to TNI. The grace, bravery, and patriotism demonstrated by this female soldier could be indicative of the exceptional caliber of all women in the army.

Previously, new military recruits had to undergo a virginity test to identify candidates with inappropriate behavior in their past. However, this practice was discontinued in early 2021, signaling a significant change. It was demoralizing for those who aspired to join the army and perpetuated gender inequalities and removing it ensured that all recruits are evaluated based on their qualifications and capabilities, regardless of gender.
