We usually associate the term southern belle with being slightly archaic and you are not too far from the truth as the term comes from the pre-civil war times of America, famously known as the Antebellum period. A modern synonym of the term would be debutante, when coming of age girls were coming out and joining the social aspect of society.
A usual southern belle’s outfit would be one of a circular skirt, corset, and those gorgeous gloves to give them a chic and stylish look.
However, times have changed and now country girls like to do things differently, at least fashion-wise, wearing what they feel comfortable in, so more singlets and shorts, ideal to beat the sun and score some extra fashion brownie points too. They also believe that their smiles are their best accessory so they use them to good effect.
