Mike and Jeff agreed the smart thing would be to call the police. That way, even if the criminals discovered their location, help would be on the way and their chances of being rescued would improve drastically.
Jeff was the one to make the call. “911, what’s your emergency?” Knowing that any slight sound would be terrible, he whispered their location to the dispatcher. Jeff explained that he and his friend were stuck on the ship’s lower deck and that some men had tied up someone in one of the rooms. The dispatcher understood the sensitive nature of the call and assured them help was on the way.
