Derek and his partner realized that they’d made a big mistake. All Mike had done was buy time for himself and his friend. He knew the police were already on their way, which is why he let himself get captured. Now it was too late to escape. Knowing this didn’t stop them from trying, though.
Choosing to cut their losses, the men abandoned their hostages in the room and ran up the stairs, hoping to elude the officers. At the same time, Mike caught sight of the woman who must have been doing all that screaming. He rushed to untie her bonds as they waited for the officers.
