Veteran Stars You Thought Were Long Gone but Are Not Even Planning Their Retirement

Phyllis Coates – January 15, 1927

Remember Phyllis Coates? The lady who played a journalist in the 1951 movie Superman? She stole more than just the heart of Superman. She made a long-lasting impact on the audience too. Phyllis Coates entertained her fans for several years after that and became a household name.

It was a heartbreaking moment for her fans when she announced her retirement in 1996 after a successful career spanning over five decades. During her long-lasting career, she featured in numerous movies and television shows, including Jungle Drums of Africa, Blues Busters, Flat Top, Superman, and the Mole Men, and Panther Girl Kongo, to name a few.

The actress now leads a comfortable life away from the media glare. We wish the nonagenarian many more years of health, happiness, and peace and hope to see her celebrate her centennial birthday!
