Mel Gibson is known for the many movies like The Patriot and Mad Max, and of course for the famous Braveheart phrase, ‘They may take away our lives, but they’ll never take away our freedom!” The Hollywood actor made sensational internet news when he got on the wrong side of the law in 2011.
The actor got arrested by the El Segundo Police Department in March 2011 after a fight with his then-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, got out of hand. After this mugshot was taken, he was charged with a misdemeanor battery conviction. A sentence of three years probation as well as a command to complete a one-year domestic violence counseling program was given. Further treatment had to be undergone by Gibson to treat underlying mental illness.
