The Emiratis are notorious for their use of domesticated cheetahs as status symbols. Although cats are often shy, it’s not uncommon to see them with their human companions or on a shotgun in one of the many high-end automobiles their owner no doubt owns. Having a pet as potentially unpredictable as a cheetah can lead to some pretty awkward incidents, no matter how great the idea sounds in principle. If spotted with a cheetah, the owner would be heavily fined and have their pet feline taken away, much like a tiger would be.
In all honesty, treating a cheetah as a domesticated animal is wrong. As beautiful as they are, keeping one of these cats in captivity can cause a variety of health issues as they are truly native to the central regions of Iran and Africa. They should be able to live their natural life freely without being taken out of their environment as a status symbol.
